De Torch Bearer Award is een vredesprijs die wordt uitgereikt namens de Sri Chinmoy Oneness Peace Run aan individuen die op een bijzondere manier bijdragen aan de maatschappij, en zich hebben ingezet om mensen te verbinden in de geest van vrede, vriendschap en harmonie.
De boodschap van de Peace Run is dat vrede begint in ons eigen hart en in ons eigen leven en zich van daaruit verspreidt naar de mensen om ons heen en naar de samenleving als geheel. Eén vlammetje van vrede en goede wil heeft het vermogen om vele andere vlammen te ontsteken en zo een groot vuur van positieve energie te creëren. De Torch Bearer Award wil mensen eer bewijzen die het vuur van vrede en harmonie zowel in zichzelf als in anderen hebben aangewakkerd.

Jennifer Hagens
Met haar Stichting De Mussen Toevlucht heeft Jennifer Hagens via acties en voorlichting ervoor gezorgd dat de leefomstandigheden van mussen in Nederland zijn verbeterd. De mus staat al jaren op de lijst van bedreigde inheemse diersoorten. Gemeentes overal in Nederland en ook het ministerie hebben haar adviezen overgenomen.
Bibian Mentel
Bibian Mentel-Spee is een Nederlandse snowboardster. Zij werd zes maal Nederlands kampioen op de onderdelen halfpipe en snowboardcross. In 2002 werd ze met een prothese opnieuw tweemaal Nederlands kampioene snowboardcross op de Paralympics. Met haar stichting Mentelity zet ze zich in om kinderen met een lichamelijke beperking aan het sporten te krijgen.
Wim Hof
Wim Hof, ook wel 'the iceman' genoemd, ontwikkelde zijn eigen methode om mensen via ademhalingsoefeningen, blootstelling aan extreme kou en focus gezonder en gelukkiger te maken. Zijn Wim Hof Method heeft miljoenen mensen over de hele wereld geïnspireerd. Wim Hof krijgt de Torch Bearer Award een dag eerder, op 7 augustus, als de Peace Run door zijn woonplaats Stroe komt.

Rabbijn Awraham Soetendorp kreeg een Torch Bearer Award voor zijn jarenlange en tomeloze inzet om de interreligieuze dialoog te stimuleren en zich samen met religieuze leiders van diverse achtergronden in te zetten om armoede in de wereld te bestrijden.
Componist Merlijn Twaalfhoven werd geëerd om zijn baanbrekende inititieven om mensen in conflictgebieden samen te brengen door middel van muziek. Zoals zijn huiskamerconcerten in Jeruzalem en Palestina en zijn concert in Cyprus waarbij hij mensen aan weerszijden van de scheidingsmuur bij elkaar bracht.
Het echtpaar Janet en Jurrien ten Brinke kreeg de Torch Bearer Award voor hun initiatief 'Ik ben een gastgezin voor een vluchteling' waarbij ze meer dan 26.000 Nederlandse gastgezinnen koppelden aan vluchtelingen om de kloof tussen beiden te overbruggen.
2014:
Nicolien de Kroon heeft jarenlang humanitaire hulpacties georganiseerd om kinderen in oorlogsgebieden te ondersteunen. Ze begeleidde talloze konvooien van vrachtwagens met etenswaren, speelgoed en knuffels naar conflictgebieden zoals Irak, voormalig Joegoslavië en Syrië en heeft daarbij samengewerkt met mensen als Moeder Theresa en Mikhail Gorbachov.
Jeugdwerker Saïd Bensellam en rabbijn Lody van der Kamp ontvingen beide een Torch Bearer Award voor hun inzet om kansarme jongeren van verschillende etnische achtergronden met elkaar te verbinden, hen een positief zelfbeeld te geven en vooroordelen uit de weg te ruimen door de dialoog aan te gaan.

In 1987 he founded the Oneness-Home Peace Run as a way to bring people together in a global yet grassroots event. Since its inception the Run has traversed over 140 nations and touched the lives of millions of people. Known between 2005 and 2013 as the World Harmony Run, the Peace Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, rather, the Peace Run provides an opportunity for people to give expression to their own hopes and dreams for a more peaceful and harmonious world. People from all walks of life hold the symbolic torch to wish for a better, brighter future. Passing the torch from one person to the next unites us in our common aspiration to offer something positive to our world – together we can make a difference!

As the Sri Chinmoy Foundation journeys around the world we invariably come into contact with some remarkable people who have inspired their communities, their cities and nations through their own lives and deeds. The presence of the Peace Run and torch creates an opportunity to recognise these remarkable people.
We were honoured that international Spokesman for the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, Sudhahota Carl Lewis, was the first recipient of the Peace Run Torch-Bearer Award.
Meb Keflezighi is one of the most decorated and popular distance runners in American history.To date, he is the only athlete to have won the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon, and an Olympic medal.
Archbishop Tutu, the Nobel Peace Laureate for 1984, sent this powerful message to the runners: "I am happy to support your Peace Run for justice, peace and reconciliation. The world must know that God wants us to live amicably as brothers and sisters, members of one family, the human family, God's family."
His Excellency Dr.Mari Alkatiri was the first Prime Minister Alkitiri of Timor Leste. He and a few other great national leaders started the independence movement for Timor Leste and founded FRETILIN. Through his tireless dedication, the world began to hear about the Timorese Leste people’s devastating sufferings and to take action.
His Excellency Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão was the great leader of the people of Timor Leste during their quest for independence. As military head of FALANTIL he led the resistance with boundless courage and charisma. Now as Prime Minister his all-inclusive leadership is guiding Timor Leste to new and unimaginable heights.
Wasfia is an extremely dynamic and inspirational woman. From an early age she has been passionate about working for humanitarian causes. In 2011, to celebrate 40 years of Bangladeshi independence, Wasfia launched the “Bangladesh on Seven Summits” Campaign.
On May 14 2009 at the President's Palace in Ljubljana we met with President of the Republic of Slovenia Dr. Danilo Türk and had the honor of presenting him with the Torch-Bearer Award.
In Tokyo, Japan on April 22, 2010 at the Miyagino Sumo Stable we were able to present the current reigning Sumo Yokazuna Hakuhō Shō with the Torch-Bearer Award.
Belgrade, Serbia, on July 7th 2010, we were honored to present Prof. Dr. Slavica Đjukić Dejanović, the Speaker of Parliament, with the Torch Bearer Award.
